Our Mission is to turn that little tinge of guilt you feel when you buy a $7 cup of coffee into a daily reminder of how we can all give back!…
An astounding 52 million Americans don’t know where their next meal will come from. Organizations like Feeding America are doing everything they can to fight hunger, and we want to help. We learned that there are 100 million coffee drinkers in America, and we couldn’t help but think about what we could do with the support of a crowd that size.
Here at The Norman Project, we created the reusable, eco-friendly, customizable, and just plain cool, Fabric Coffee Sleeve. Let the coffee shops keep those cardboard sleeves. At the same time, for each Fabric Coffee Sleeve you buy from us, we will donate 3 meals to Feeding America.
“You can’t build a peaceful world on empty stomaches and human misery”
Norman Borlaug was born into an Iowan farming family in 1914, and before his death in 2009 he would claim the title of saving more lives than any other human in recorded history. When Dr. Borlaug graduated from college he knew that he wanted to do more than just go into the field of Science. He wanted to take his natural God given talents for reason, and thought, and use them to make the world a better place. He first used his talent to improve the yield of farmers in Mexico before moved to India to introduce a new strain of wheat he invented that increased output by 400%. He then moved to China and gave them a new type of rice he developed that allowed them to produce more food with less resources than ever before. And at a time when we weren’t even allowed entrance into most of Africa he went there to show them all he learned to save the lives of countless Africans.
When he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 the committee said that he had likely already had saved more than 1 Billion Lives with his technology and education.
Founded in 1982 Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Their mission is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. Over the last 30+ years Feeding America has done more to raise awareness of Hunger and Food Insecurity. 1 in 6 Americans doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from… This reality is one that we simply cannot ignore.
Jordan first had the idea to sell Fabric Coffee Sleeves when he lived in Nashville, TN a few years earlier. But then his full time job transferred him to Indiana and the sleeves business was put on hold. Mandy encouraged him to start again and together they formed The Norman Project. Mandy immediately took over the sewing and book-keeping for the business while Jordan focused on sales and web presence. Today you can buy their sleeves in coffee shops, online, or direct from the team.
It started as a simple business idea but today is dedicated to making an impact in our fight against hunger.
